I think so - I am considering getting one of these myself. It would have 
the capacity to handle the AC as well as other appliances at the same time. 
Only thing holding me back is the price of about $1600. Incidentally, it 
weighs about 135 pounds.

There is now a 2000 watt model also, which is not electric start, but quite 
a bit cheaper ($885). It would probably just _barely_ handle the AC if 
nothing else was turned on.
