Re: [A/S] Bathroom ABS plastic stains
Hello, Susan ....
The bathroom counter top in my ' 68 Tradewind had a big ugly brown stain
which I think was a rust stain. The bathroom tub also has some smaller
stains. We tried every commercial kitchen and bath cleaning product we could
find. Even the miracle products advertised on TV guaranteed to make
everything new failed to improve the stain. A helpful list member responding
to my plea for ideas recommended very fine (400- 500 grit) wet/dry
sandpaper which had worked well for him. It worked like a charm for us too
and did not hurt or scratch the plastic counter top or tub. Actually
polished it. Takes a fair amount of elbow grease as the fine wet/dry paper
cuts slowly and controllably.
I don't know if your ' 76 plastic is the same as my ' 68 plastic but if the
Comet doesn't help (as I suspect) you might try sanding. Maybe start at a
inconspicuous place in case your plastic material is different. We were very
pleased with the results we got.
Hope it works as well for you.
