Yep, it's called caravanning.  There are organized caravans... the WBCCI 
members do those. I've never done one, but the people who do seem to enjoy 
them. Then there are the impromptu ones.    

That's when you meet someone and hit it off, and just travel together for a 
while. 

I love doing that. It's fun to have someone to share seeing sights with.... 
yet nice to have your own place to go home to.
