[A/S] Re: Clearcoat
A friend of mine recently had his 1976 Tradewind painted "Airstream"
silver at a service center up in L.A. It turned out beautifully
including all of the trim, decals and AC unit.
Since I have to maintain my polished exterior with a huge....read
HUGE, amount of effort, I'm quite jealeous that he can keep it washed
and on the road while I am out polishing my 1960 Overlander. If
interested I can pass your email inquiry along to my friend with the
Tradewind who can give you more specifics, ie cost, preparation,
satisfaction with the outcome, etc.
For what it is worth, it's my opinion that the 70's and newer coaches
lend better to being painted rather the the 60's and prior years. I
guess I'm a sucker for bright shiny polished coaches. It might be
the difference in body styles and the type of clad aluminum that was
used.
Good luck if you chose to consider getting your coach painted. It
does have it's advantages.
