I have a '99 Super Duty with 5 speed manual, towing
doesn't seem to make much difference, around 12.5
average. The 4:88 rear end doesn't help much, although
I did tow a friends 40' Fleetwood park model 200 miles
to Vegas for him, 5th gear almost all the way, and
still 12 mpg.
