I  had a 1988 with 5.7L, 350pulling a 31 ft sovreign, I made improvements in
the following order. (1) K & N air filter,  (2) cat back exaust system
(3) computer chip  (4) changed the rear axel ratio to 373.  the biggest
improvement was the cat back exaust of the 4 things that I did. I would do
that first it will also improve your gas mileage.  good luck
