Re: [A/S] What's best under my Airstream

Maybe not your druthers, but I used "crusher run" as it contains all sizes
of small rock, sand, dust, etc. Some don't like it as it tracks into
everything when it's first put down. However, it packs! If you use washed
gravel, it won't pack and will be very difficult to move your auto/Airstream
on the surface. The nominal depth of what I put down is 4 inches. The area
under my carports, 25X55, took nearly 60 ton. The truck drivers are experts
at spreading the gravel to a depth that you want.

I used my van as a roller and made a hundred tracks to compress the gravel.
If a professional does the work, a commercial roller would make a neat job.

In this area, the Cover All Enterprises all metal carports (18X20) for the
standard height cost $595 installed. Each additional foot in height costs
$50. The cost was right and certainly did the job for me. These units come
with a 20 year warranty.
