Recommend as a first step you verify the axle rating you now have. The 
Henschen tag is on the front of the axle on the road side. It will give 
serial number and weight ratings.
The axles can be purchased from Airstream either "loaded" or stripped. A 
loaded axle includes brakes/drums. A stripped axle is just that, the 
axle. The stripped axle can actually be shipped by UPS.
The loaded axle is truck freight only. I would suggest the stripped axle 
will work  for you.

The actually transfer of axles is not complex. Four bolts and the shocks 
are all that attach it to the coach. Beyond that the brakes must be 
removed from each wheel before removing the axle. A good
time to repack wheel bearings and adjust the brakes.
