Kids like little hide-a-ways like that. Wonder what the implications
of it are under the boat? I'll bet it would be uncomfortably loud
for them if the genset was running. Maybe that would save them.

If I may, I want to continue the generator discussion for a moment.
I rebuilt an Argosy 20 ft MH a few years ago that had a runout
Generac in the rear compartment (by factory design). I could not
find service for the Generac anyplace. I trashed it and put in an
Onan Emerald.

A couple of years ago, Camping World got into a peeing contest with
Onan and started carrying Generac generators. They are impressive in
terms of size, weight, and output. Last week I punched up service
dealers on their web site and lo and behold there are 6 within 30
minutes driving distance from me. I called 4 of them to ask opinions
of the Generac. (These are independent service dealers that service
Generac, Onan and other things- do not sell them) All of them spoke
highly of the units and two of them said that if properly serviced
(filters, Oil changes, etc) would require less maintenance than
Onan.

I am still somewhat skeptical. But the little 3400 watt LPG unit
puts out 28 amps weighs 98 pounds and would fit in just about any
compartment or even behind the LPG bottles on the tongue between the
battery compartment doors.

At 65 db, its about half the sound level of the Honda (68 db) and 4
times quieter that Onan (74 db). 

I am tempted.

There was a discussion about gas vs LPG earlier. I have run both and
in my estimation an LPG unit will run twice as long as a gasoline
unit without service. Mostly because of the clean combustion. When a
gas unit is ready for tear down to get rid of the carbon, an LPG
unit will be clean as a pin inside.

I don't really have a lot of faith in that little unit running a
life time but like everything else in life, the compromises
sometimes make it doable. 

......still thinkin about it.
