[A/S] Water system Question 1965 Overlander

Does any one with a mid 60's Overlander have a water system like mine.  Mine 
has the normal outlet as per the manual, but has an additional pipe running 
from the bottom of the tank in a loop behind the arm of the sofa and back to 
a tee at the top of the tank and continues onward down next to the main line 
drain.  Does anyone know if this pipe serves a purpose?  Do I need it?  It 
had a leak at that fitting and I would like to eliminate an extra piece of 
pipe if I don't need it.  One mor fitting to leak in a system.  Any help 
would be appreciated.  I lwould like to reinstall the tank in the next few 
days.  SOOOOO,  any ideas?
