[A/S] Body Repair on a 1948 Trailer
Greetings to the list from a new subscriber! I'm writing this for my
husband (the Airstream owner and fan) since I'm the computer-literate
one....
We inherited a 1948 Airstream trailer (I don't know the length,
model,
or anything else) from his parents, which was sitting in our driveway
in Tucson, Arizona. Unfortunately it was struck by a driver who
missed the turn and came through our front yard, doing extensive
damage to the exterior and, my husband fears, where the body attaches
to the chassis(? sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology).
My question is - how do we get an accurate estimate on having it
repaired? Several people have stopped previously to ask if it was
for
sale, and I understand there may be an Airstream collectors
organization here in Tucson, but I don't know how to get in touch
with
anyone. I'm afraid the "field auto adjuster" that the insurance
company is sending out won't know enough about vintage Airstreams to
give us an accurate assessment.
Any advice/directions would be appreciated. Thanks,
Lori
