[A/S] Removal of the black water shroud

I am about to remove the black water shroud and tank  I have read all 
the archives but still have a few questions.  There is a pipe going into 
the rear of the shroud which is attached to a smaller galvanized box. 
What is this?  Any other precautions before I cut the rusted bolts and 
lower the unit would be of help. I am also considering dropping the 
belly skins to paint the frame, about how long should this take and what 
else should I take care of once I am under there?
