[A/S] We saw the 1976 Argosy

The Argosy that Dave directed the list to (the one he was going to 'change
out' the seats):

Tom and I went to Los Altos on Saturday to see this Argosy. Dave was right -
the seller is a great guy. If I hadn't come to my senses about the
impracticability of us having a motorhome we would probably be the proud new
owners of this rig!

This MH is in really good shape (to my eyes, anyway). It has been repainted
and has the zip-dee curb-side awning that rolls up inside a protective metal
tube and has the zip dee awning on the street side that shades those windows.
I think it must look very much as it did when it rolled off the line.

For me, the dinette being gone would be a plus - it gives that open feeling
instead of an 'aisle' that Hunter "doesn't like" in MHs. It does still have a
tiny little fold-down table behind the passenger seat with the 2 original
("collectible") zip dee chairs that fold up and go behind the driver's seat.
The nightstand between the twin beds makes into a larger table.Bob had slept
on one of those blow-up queen size mattresses recently while his guests slept
on the twins - said he 'slept like a baby'.

As to the $20,000 price tag - I don't think it was that out of line - at
least not in California as I said befoe. Bob (the seller) has every invoice
and paper ever issued on this MH. The invoice for the brand new -not rebuilt
motor (3-yr, 50,000 mi warranty) was right around $7500. Sooo, if we could
find one for $7-10 thousand and put in a new motor it probably wouldn't be
worth as much. Besides, if we bought a Classic MH like this (or any old MH)
we wouldn't be worried about resale - we'd keep it til we died. We tend to
keep vehicles a very long time.

BTW, RV online has only this Argosy and a '78 24' in Garland, Texas for
$13,000..
RVtrader has one listing - in Oxnard, CA for .... $20,000.
