I have had exactly the same experience.  I too was told that wood floors
could be installed, but that they had to be installed the same way as Pergo
floors, i.e., the boards glued to each other, but the floor as a whole
"floating" on one of those "bubble" like vinyl liners.  This is so as to
withstand the movement the floor would experience with the trailer in
motion.  We did this two years ago, and have enjoyed the wood floor.  The
trailer has traveled over 15,000 miles in the interval.
