My '75s have a snap ring that presses against the inner plexiglass.  It 
has a sort of hooked edge that fits into the frame.  If you have a flat 
aluminum trim ring against your inner glass, it is probably the same 
thing.  Try gently pressing one end of this ring into the glass, and 
catching the edge with long nose pliers.  A gentle pull towards the 
center of the window should start the whole thing sliding out.
