Re: [A/S] Dumping Tanks
Hi Peg,
You should join the Vintage Airstream list too, that's for Airstreams
over 25 years old. I have a '73, so not much help. VACList@airstream.net
A guy named Tom Patterson has organized years of postings with a search
engine, so you can find out just about anything about old Airstreams and
camping.
You have no gray water tank. Back then, it was OK to just let it run out
on the ground just about everywhere. You have a black water tank that is
right under the toilet. The Gray water joins the party below that. You
should have a gate valve to open and shut the black water, and a cover
over the end. You will have to get a big blue tank for the gray water at
any RV place.
As for the electrics, What do you have under there ?
Maybe a big thing called a Univolt. This is original equipment, and yes
it will switch you back and forth. Univolts are old funky things, and if
it doesn't work, don't get it fixed, get a new charger inverter. the new
ones are much better and lighter and quieter.
The best thing is to get a book about all this:
RV Repair and Maintenance by Bob Livingston is very good. Not about
Airstreams particulaly but a lot of it is the same for all.
Enjoy !
