[A/S] Sew What?

Last week I talked about life never getting any better, I don't have 
bi-polar disorder but this week life could not get any worse or more 
expensive. 

Yesterday I removed the curtains and washed them. I assumed there was a 
good chance they might not survive. These are (were) original 1972's, 
sometimes it is safe to make assumptions. The curtains disintegrated. I 
have been quoted $610 for new replacements.

Today I discovered that the bathroom sink and counter top are damaged 
beyond repair.  I have the rear bath and the counter and sink are a one 
piece molded unit. I found and repaired a chip in the sink last year. I 
used clear epoxy inside and out. Knowing the sink is brittle I travel 
with the telephone shower laying in the sink wrapped in a towel. The 
shower in the towel beat it's way through the bottom of the sink while 
driving on the highway. Now I know how brittle.  Neither Airstream or 
Inland RV has the part.

My plan is to remove the counter and make a perfect template. I will 
make a counter with high density particle board and Formica. I can 
foresee having some difficulty finding a small enough sink to fit in the 
awkward and limited space. As far as the curtains I think I will get a 
sewing machine and figure it out myself. I will try some very plain 
curtains without pleats. If that fails I have a few skilled seamstresses 
in the family.
