Bob, one way to clean your stove burners (and any other greasy, crusty, piece 
of cooking equipment) is to put it in a heavy plastic bag with some ammonia 
and leave it overnight or longer.  Then you can use a brush and get off all 
that accumulation of burnt on grease.
