Re: [A/S] Transmission Oil Temp and Use of OD

Jim,
I bought a brass reducing bushing at the local hardware store, faced
off the end of it to make it shorter, then soldered it over a hole that
I drilled in the side of the transmission oil pan.

The turning operation isn't really necessary, but do be careful of where
you put the hole. The sender unit will stick into the pan and must not
hit any of the internal components and must not be under a bolt hole or
you won't be able to insert the bolt when you replace the pan. (don't
ask how I know that!) I just used soft solder and a propane torch to
attach the bushing. Get the sending unit first so you know what size
bushing to use, mine is a 3/4" NPT to 3/8" NPT.

As far as whether to tow in OD or not, I can't answer that as I'm
unfamiliar with Ford transmissions. There are probably Ford discussion
lists on http://www.yahoogroups.com where you could ask the question.
