If the 4L60 is the same as the 700R4, then it's probably a no-no to tow
in OD. Again, check your manual.

The THM700R4 drops the main line pressure in the transmission when it
shifts into OD, which can cause the clutches to slip. You'll probably
not notice the slippage, but it will fry the transmission in short
order. When you force it to stay in 3rd (direct), the line pressure
stays at max, causing the clutches to lock up tightly and they won't
slip.

Again, use your owner's manual as a guide. Many, many people have
ignored this to their own considerable expense.
