Yep, there is a secret. But your not going to like it. You sure you want 
me to tell you?.
OK, here it is. You have to remove the inner door skin, honest. It's not 
quite as scary as it might sound. With the door open so you can get to 
them, drill the rivets holding the upper half of the inner door skin. 
Using the window hole as a starting point, pull toward you at the middle 
to pucker the skin. This will allow the metal to pull out of the frame. 
If it hangs up, it's because part of a rivet didn't come completely out. 
Make sure all the rivets bits and pieces are cleared out before putting
the skin back in. Without the skin, the shade is easy to remove and 
replace.
