STOP DO NOT USE YOUR FURNACE! You are not completely burning the fuel 
you are putting through the furnace, either too much fuel or not 
enough air, and generating a ton of toxic carbon monoxide (CO), which 
can and will kill.

The smellmay be related to the fact that CO is flammable, and may 
beliveit or not ignite when it exits the vest and gets enough oxygen.

If your problem is a fault that is causing too much fuel, then you 
have raw propane in a combustion chamber, not good.

Get too a reputable RV shop and have it professionally repaired. Save 
money fixing things that woun't kill you, leave those to the 
professional.
