M&M Marilynn,

A year ago when I started looking for an AS Classic MH, I asked a 
friend to check into the Chevy engines. He asked some of the 
powertrain folks who were around in the 80's.  He told me that 
starting in 1985 they had some problems with cracked exhaust 
manifolds. Some pollution control equipment added that year had the 
unfortunate side effect of causing the exhaust manifold to crack.  
This problem was understood and fixed, I believe in 87 with the use 
of a stainless steel manifold. I don't know how big a deal it really 
is. There are a lot of 85, 86 MH's out there with ok exhaust 
manifolds. An earlier post indicated it was not a particular problem 
with Airstreams.  It's just something to have checked out.
