Fellow Streamers,
I just got word back directly from Worthington Cylinders
(makers of aluminum LP tanks for Airstream and for us).
Here's what I have learned:
Aluminum horizontals are now available in 20#, 30# and 40#
sizes. There is a separate filler valve with the OPD on it.
They MUST be filled in a vertical position, only thru the
filler valve. The service valve now has a check mechanism
that prevents filling thru the service valve.
There isn't a remote sensor as there just isn't room in the
tank for another float. Worthington's engineers tried and
tried, and it just doesn't fit.
The cut-off for non-OPD cylinders is 4/1/02. As of that
date, no propane filler will be allowed to fill a tank that
doesn't have an OPD.
Contact us off-list if you'd like pricing information.
