Hi Roy. Bend the shock plate back with a crow bar. Loosen the nut, so that NO 
threads are exposed, place the crow bar on the nut, and simply bend the 
bracket just enough to allow removal of the shock. It is not necessary to 
straighten the shock bracket afterward. Caution:  DO NOT bend the bracket 
anymore than necessary.     Andy
