Hi gang,

Well, some of you disagreed with my friend who said air conditioners work 
better in humid conditions than in dry... so, I asked him to explain further.

This is what he replied.... (I'm not saying he's right, I don't know.)

The refrigerant is cooled via condensation. Part of that process is internal. 
 If you've ever noticed the condenser coils with water dripping off them that 
is also part of the process whereby the moisture is collected on the coils 
via temperature differential (also referred to as delta T).  Kind of like 
condensation on a cold glass. The fan blows across this and part of the 
cooling (condensation) process, whereby the refrigerant is changed from a gas 
to a liquid in the cycle, is due to evaporative cooling.  Where there is 
little or no moisture in the air the process is not as efficient because the 
evaporative part of the cooling process is reduced considerably.

So, that's his story and he's sticking to it.
