John H, I had a 87 F 250 diesel that I towed my 77/31' Airstream. Without a 
turbo, they are pretty slow in the mtns. I live in the S.F. Ca area, so I tow 
thru mtns often & that truck has trouble holding 55 mph in the smallest 
hills. With an over drive, it would-be shifting down on the level. They are 
very good trucks, eng & trans were strong. Never heated up & got about 12 mpg 
towing.  I bought a 99/454 Suburban. Much stronger towing in hills & mtns.
