Hi Dave,
I have a 30 footer and to be truthful it is just as easy to hook and go as it 
was with the 24 footer or before that hooking to the 4X8 utility trailer with 
all the tents in it. As far as backing it is easier to back a longer trailer 
that a shorter one because it does not react as quick as a shorter one. I was 
a truck driver (seems like another lifetime ago) and was pulling 20 sea 
containers, they were a chore to back up because of the quick movement of the 
trailer to very limited wheel movement. When I changed jobs and started 
pulling 48 footers and 53s I have to change my backing habits from a very 
controlled movement of the wheel to what my dad used to say "get radical with 
it and put the da_ _ thing in the hole! The reaction of the trailer to the 
wheel movement is not as severe as with a shorter unit. In short the longer 
the unit the more forgiving it is in backing.

As far as entertaining the camp ground with your backing techniques, don't 
worry about getting it into the spot the first time. And if you get applause 
you know you've impressed the group, if they offer you a beer you know its 
time to take a break! I drove a truck for about a million miles and have 
pulled this Airstream only about 20,000, I'm still humbled at times and other 
times I just plain scare myself! Don't worry about what others think just 
take your time.

BTW, I made a big mistake with planning my route to the restaurant on my way 
into the Bismarck last year and ended up pulling my 30 footer through the 
drive through window at a Taco Bell. Just wave, smile and look above to make 
sure you don't rip the AC off the roof. I always teach new truck drivers to 
walk their route before they pull in so they can get out. I should pay 
attention to what I teach.
