We have a latch over (similar to a padlock latch plate) that swings over
from the right (front of AS) and engages a lock handle that can be turned
to (similar to placing a padlock through) that holds the latch plate
down, ours is keyed, but I have seen others that are just friction sets.
I'm glad I have mine, but they don't look that good on the outside of the
trailer. They are akin to placing the alluded to padlock and latch set up
over the door on the outside. It must have been painful for the previous
owner to mount the thing, what with drilling those holes in the skin and
all.

This shot, although long, show the placement of the latch and lock
tumbler (external) just opposite the upper door hinge and above the grab
handle to the right of the door.

Anyway, I feel much better having it there, than not.
