Peggy. The published ball heigth of any Airstream trailer built since 1962, 
applies only when the trailer is EMPTY. Also, prior to 1976,  when all axles 
were built with pure rubber, most of them at this point have taken a set. 
Therefore the only ball heigth that is correct for their coach is to measure 
"that one", and not someone elses, and it should be typically loaded when 
making that measurement. Further, if the Torsion arm of your axle, as it goes 
rearward, goes uphill, then the axle must be replaced, or rebuilt. Under the 
uphill condition, your Airstream will bottom out on average bumps, therefore 
ultimately causing failures of many components, including the shell. We will
