That is correct, Atwood engineers chose not to include an anode rod in 
their heaters. They say part of  their manufacturing process put a liner 
on the inside of the tank that provides a satisfactory service life. 
They also strongly recommend the tank be flushed
out annually with low pressure clean compressed air. This will scavenge 
the mineral deposits out of the tank, extending the life of the tank. 
The life of the inner tank is very dependent on the hardness of the 
water that goes through it. The harder the water the
shorter the life.
