[A/S] Flying J

Hi All,

On Monday (11/27/00), we left Lake Cahuilla Campground, a Riverside County Park in La Quinta, CA
after several days of not picking up email. Our next campground didn't have email access, so we
checked the Flying J Directory and found one of their fuel stops along our planned route.

At the Ramon Road Exit off Interstate I-10 near Indio, California, we pulled into a Flying J
station. After parking and turning on my computer, I carried both it and a phone plug cord into the
restaurant, found an empty dining table with a telephone and jack, set up my laptop, plugged into
the phone jack, clicked on the telephone icon to automatically access our ISP, waited a moment and
clicked on the "sent and receive" email icon, waited some more while the exchange occurred, signed
off, disconnected from the phone jack, picked up my Mac, left the restaurant - and that was that.

After I returned to the Airstream, I thought back on what had just occurred. A dozen emails were
sent, four dozen were received, no one paid any attention to me while all this was happening, no one
wanted any money from me for using the phone jack, the entire exchange occurred flawlessly in less
than 15 minutes and I walked out of the Flying J store with a smile on my face.

Years ago when the Flying J "RV Club" card first came in the mail, the only thing we knew was it
would qualify us for a one cent a gallon discount on fuel (big deal). Since then, we've found their
facilities include a large, wide fueling station for RVers towing trailers, a store stocked for
travelers, a dining table with phone jack for email access, a dump station, a fresh water spigot,
clean bathrooms and a large RV friendly parking area for staying overnight (when needed).

Later this week, our travels will take us to "The Slabs" in Niland, CA where we'll join thousands of
Snowbirds soaking up warm, winter sunshine.

Happy Holidays,

Terry
