Dick,
 It depends on the transmission. Half-ton GM trucks (including the 'Burb)
have a 700R4 transmission that should NOT tow in O.D., and the owners'
manual tells you so. The 3/4-ton trucks use a different trans that is OK to
tow in O.D. It is NOT "urban legend".
