I had a 97 Dodge Diesel with a 5 speed that I towed a four horse trailer, a
6 ton sailboat, a 31' international, a 30' GN equipment trailer, the list
goes on.  The truck (or the transmission) never flinched.  I sold it to my
Dad with 80K this year and it is still going strong.  Anyway, I can not say
enough nice things about the diesel matched with a 5 speed, nor have I heard
anything awful from other owners.  Good luck!  Keep the Airstream!
