I am amazed at the performance of the Toyota 4 runner that Robert describes! 
I sometimes travel with a friend who has one and we pull a small tent camper 
and it is slow uphill!  

Just like a Ford truck is not identical to every other Ford Truck, Toyota 
4Runners vary considerably. In 1996 they were totally redesigned, removing 
the essence of the trailering and tranny problems which gave people fits in 
the 80's and 90's. Another difference is the engine size. Many of the pre 
1996 4Runners were 4 Cylinder, most sold after are 6 cylinder.

My 4Runner would do well pulling that little trailer, but my 4Runner is 
different from other 4Runners made in the past.
