Front Jack was Re: [A/S] HELP

My electric jack was making funny clicking noises and not going up and
down smoothly. Hmmm, put it on the to-fix list. Last week as the weather
turned colder, we did our winterizing...Open valves & drains...Go to jack
and proceed to tip trailer up and down to help draining process. BANG!
Jack let go and tongue dropped to the ground (good news is, the weight was
on the tongue). After recovering from the shock, the jack was
dissassembled...The jack screw was fine, but the 1/8" ball bearings in the
recirculating bearing part of the jack were all but gone, vanished,
dropped out of sight, literally! Some stopping piece had come off the end
of the recirculating part and the 100+ bearings had been gradually dumping
out when the stopless end was reached. Only had 12 left. $6 worth of
chrome steel ball bearings later plus a new stopping thing welded in place
and we are reassembling and looking forward to smooth ups and downs.
Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Moral of the story. If it makes a funny noise. Fix it.
