As long as you're diligent about checking the batteries you'll probably
be OK.  I don't know about the power consumption of the Univolt.

I put an in-line switch where the Uni plugs into the AC circuit, and
only turn that switch on when I need to charge the battery up.  That
way, 12V lights run off the battery (though not as bright), but there's
no chance of overcharging the battery.
