Al,

Just replace that speaker. It is very common for a speaker cone to warp to
the extent that it touches the magnet gap, causing this kind of distortion
when you listen to it. Take the speaker down to your local Radio Shack
store and get the clerk to sell you one that is same size.

If for some reason this doesn't fix it, take the speaker back for refund
and call the service guy.

One copy of this goes direct to you so maybe you will see it sooner.
