No it's not.

Come on, Phil; this is getting silly.  Jim Dunmyer gave you a site 
and a quote from people who work all the time with these things; I 
have some other sites on how these fridges work that say the same 
think as Hunter's post; my 1995 Airstream manual says it, too.  And, I 
have personal experience with losing a fridge because I inadvertantly 
operated it for several hours 'way off level.  Nothing would 
rescuscitate it, and I had to replace it.  And, having a chorus of 
people saying something that you don't want to believe doesn't make it 
false.  And, just for a kicker:  since when was it that a condition a 
manufacturer fails to tell you about became evidence that that the 
condition cannot happen?
