    Right on, Hunter.  The problem isn't *only* the sodium chromate, 
either.  The liquid ammonia blockage mentioned above is reversible - 
that's why one can *sometimes* recover a blocked fridge by taking the 
unit out and shaking or tumbling it (some call it "burping" the unit). 
When that doesn't work, it's probably because of accumulated 
irreversible damage from the sodium chromate deposition.
     One can ignore these warnings if one wants - it's a free country. 
But be prepared to use your check book.
