Re: [A/S] First A/S Purchase

Noah,
Congratulations on your "new to you" Airstream!

You'll no doubt find a lot more wrong with the trailer as you go along, and
you'll find things that work, but not quite the way you'd like. If you take
the right attitude, you'll have fun fixing the stuff and making it better
than new in some instances.

On the A/C: If the compressor runs, but the fan doesn't, you'll need to
check out the fan motor. They can sometimes be lubricated, and/or can be
replaced. If you can't get the exact thing, Grainger's might have a
universal motor that can be adapted. Don't give up on it too quickly.

The previous owner might have THOUGHT that he did a good job of winterizing,
but you never really know until you put water to it.

You're very fortunate to have an experienced friend help you with hooking it
up and towing. Check out http://www.can-am-rv.com for a very informative
treatise on hitching.

If you're going to tow with that truck, do yourself a favor and change the
lubricant in both the transmission and rear axle. A good synthetic is
recommended, such as AmsOil. See http://www.amsoil.com to order direct. You
must be pretty close to the towing limit recommended by the manufacturer,
and you want to give yourself all the advantages that you can.

You'll want to pull the wheels, check the brakes, and repack the wheel
bearings. Install new grease seals while you're at it, of course.

Good luck!!
