Re: [A/S] Old Awnings at Olema - Ancient or New?
There is a wonderful collection of photographs on the Vintage Airstream
Club website (www.airstream.net) from the 2nd Annual VAC Fall Rally at Olema,
California earlier this month. Many participants are pictured near their
trailers.
Many things caught my eye, but I was particularly smitten with four or so
trailer awnings that look like they stepped right out of the 1950s! They can
be seen on the trailers owned by Mark & Patty Carr, Ed Carroll, Mark Cooper &
Gaelen Donahue, and in full dress on David & Erika Hitchinson's 1957 Bubble.
Does anyone know whether these are true vintage awnings from the 1950s &
60's that have been found, or are they are new awnings made to old patterns?
If old, I obviously have not been looking in all the right places. If new,
who made them? Is there accompany or person practicing old canvas arts on
the Left Coast? Informative information would be appreciated. Thanks.
