[A/S] suburban furnace again...

I can't seem to get answer to this question about my furnace.
  Today I took out the burner assembly, to check for cleanliness, and blockages.


When pulling it out, I had to removed a gasketed cover.  This cover's gasket

was soft, and gooey.  Is this gasket supposed to be for high temperature, or

can I use any good foam.  I need to button this thing up, I can't keep waiting..I

gotta hit the road soon! <g>
