[A/S] Lubbock, TX - Friday the 13th of October

Hi Gang,

It's been a busy few days.  Last time I saw the trailer the windows, door and 
all the trim were off it..... today I went back and it's in the exact same 
condition except for one thing... the skin is brand new.  It looks great!  
Don and I checked out the new Airstreams..... they have a 99 34' limited with 
a slide and a fireplace!!!

I took the cheap plastic stove exhaust vent to a sheet metal guy who is 
fashioning a cover for it for me.... just like the one I had made in Bismark 
which I crunched with the tree.  There was a funny looking wood "playhouse" 
in the sheet metal place... "What's this?" I inquired innocently.  "Are you a 
tree hugger?" the guy asked.  
"No." I said..... "It's a deer stand." he said...... 

Silence. 

"I'm a deer hugger." I said.

The guys in the shop almost went to their knees they were laughing so hard.

I took Bruiser in for his hail damage estimate.  $4,000.00.  I would have had 
him repaired here only there isn't a F-250 SD hood in all of Lubbock...they 
are back ordered.

Took the dogs to a vet for their annual vaccinations.

Don and I went to the Heritage Center which is part of Texas Tech.  It's an 
area set aside which has old ranch buildings from various ranches in Texas.  
Everything from barns to bunkhouses to a mansion.  Log houses...stone 
houses.... there's a Heritage Center center with beautiful saddles and other 
displays and a nice gift shop.  It's a must see if you are coming to Lubbock.

We went to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner with a fellow from the RV 
Newsgroup.... he was nice enough to check out a vintage A/S for me a few 
years ago in Boerne. I had never met him before... it was a really fun 
evening.

The Nebraska "Huskers" are in town for a big football game tomorrow.  The KOA 
is full of MHs sporting the Husker flags.... 

Driving in this town is a challenge.  Apparently turn signals are a very 
expensive option on the new cars and trucks sold here in Lubbock, and few, if 
any, buyers get them.  Then there's the yellow light "thang".... Yellow means 
speed up... yellow turning red means, well, I think it means green.  I'm 
learning the local customs. Like when you are at a red light and it turns 
green.... don't go.  You have to wait for all the vehicles from both sides to 
finish running their red light.

The body shop guy at Ford said they have more accidents here than Dallas..per 
capita.

So, that's life from way up here in my Southwind penthouse.....
