Jim,
         Small PortaWatz donn't work for computers!  Spikes in the power 
are abundant with Portawatz.  I have both a PortaWatz 600 which I use for 
my microwave, drill and Dirt Devil.  Then I have a Radio Shack 220 Watt 
which has faithfully powered my notebook and cellular phone wtih no 
spikes.  It's not that pricey and it works.   in fact, I like the 
combination because I control which power goes where.
