In my 66 Safari the toilet seat was mounted as you describe but there was also a round plastic collar that finished the look of the hole. My plastic collar was kaput! I went to a local air conditioning contractor and found a galvinized collar of exactly the right dimensions in his spare parts yard. It a miracle ! :) Bob Kiger WBCCI #2857
