A few years back, I thought the same thing. But, after successive attempts that only succeeded for
short periods, I pulled all four hubs, took them to my favorite machine shop (where they have the
necessary jigs for two surfaces) and asked to have the hubs made "perfectly round." The next day, I
reinstalled the hubs and voila` - the brakes on our '77 31' became the best behaved brakes on all
our Airstreams. If I hadn't done that, I could have continued to adjust them until the cows came
home and it would not have helped the real problem. 

While you have the hubs off is a good time to replace any hub stud that is stripped or sloppy in the
hole. One time when I lost a wheel in St. Augustine, FL. and ruined the hub studs, I searched 196
hub stud trays trying to find my size. One call to an Airstream dealer would have saved me a lot of
wasted effort and running around to auto parts stores. Now, I carry six spare hub studs (enough for
one wheel).
