Phil,
 I don't know exactly how the trailer is wired, but if it were mine, I'd
run another wire. If it had to be under the bellypan, that's where it'd
be, but you might be able to fish a new wire through the belly with a
fish tape. Probably not, because it would have to be routed through
holes in the cross members.

That gound wire doesn't go to your control panel someplace, does it?
