I found two in my 79 Safari - appeared to be drain valves - tubing ran out 
into a hole in the rear.  Figured since it was the lowest spot in the supply 
system the faucets and line to the kitchen sink would drain out there if you 
opened them and cracked the faucets.  Bet I am guessing.  Would like to know 
for sure also.  Need to replace mine - thought if I could not replacements 
would bypass the valves and just use compressed air to blow out the lines.
