[A/S] Travel Routes through Colorado

I agree with Terry and Spencer.  Early snow can be heavy and wet, but is
usually cleared from major roads within 4 hours; minor roads in 24 hrs.
Heavy/wet means some damage to trees whose leaves have not fallen, causing
limbs to break.  This is the case on the Front Range areas where as much as
18" was recorded last Sunday.

We were in Gunnison and only got some light rain and a little frost.  The
mountains were lovely with their first dusting of new snow.  The mountain
passes were all open, even the remote back roads which we favor, but on
which we do NOT take the A/S.  We visited Black Canyon Nat'l Park, a
spectacular sight, a deep gash in the plateau west of Gunnison.  Actually,
it's nearer to Montrose.  Definitely worth a visit!  Then we traveled some
back roads (gravel) up Ohio Creek road to Kebler Pass, & Crested Butte; then
to Silver Jack Reservoir, Owl Creek Pass and Ridgway.  Fall colors were
everywhere and gorgeous. There were a few places in the "lee" side of the
roads where all the snow had not yet melted by mid-day Monday and the road
was wet, but all roads were good, allowing travel by "ordinary"
automobile/sedan.

Hope you are not too late to catch the color.  Take lots of pictures.
